Hello and welcome to Teachertainment — where learning takes center stage!

I’m Jake Perlman, the founder and passionate educator behind this innovative approach to teaching and learning. With a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre, History, and Journalism from Northwestern University and a Master’s in Education from Pepperdine University, I’ve built my career around one simple mission: to make learning as captivating and meaningful as a great performance.

From an early age, I was drawn to the stage — acting in plays, singing in choirs, and discovering the magic of connection through performance. That creative spark carried me from Hollywood studios and Broadway casting rooms to the elementary classroom, where I realized something powerful: the same storytelling techniques that inspire audiences can also inspire students.

Before becoming an educator, I worked behind the scenes in the entertainment industry, including roles at Paramount Studios, Showtime Networks, and Entertainment Weekly, where I wrote, interviewed, and learned the art of crafting stories that resonate. These experiences shaped my belief that education, like entertainment, should move people — emotionally, intellectually, and creatively.

As a teacher, I’ve had the privilege of working with students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade across public, private, charter, and international schools. Whether teaching 4th grade or directing performing arts programs for hundreds of students, I’ve seen firsthand how creativity fuels confidence and learning. My classrooms emphasize curiosity, collaboration, and cultural awareness — all while celebrating each student’s individuality.

I founded Teachertainment in response to a growing need I saw in education — especially in the wake of COVID-19. Traditional curricula were falling flat. Students weren’t just craving fun; they were craving connection. Teachertainment was born to bridge that gap — combining academic rigor with entertainment, pop culture, humor, and gamified learning to transform lessons into memorable experiences.

At Teachertainment, we believe that education shouldn’t feel like homework — it should feel like showtime. Every activity, guide, and resource is designed to engage students the way a great story does: with laughter, curiosity, and meaning.
